Celebrate with a Chamber Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
The Chamber would be delighted to help your business celebrate with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony if the company has:
- Opened its doors in the last 12 months
- Changed ownership or is under new management
- Moved to a new location
- Has been remodeled or expanded at its present location
A Ribbon Cutting Ceremony is an important part of your overall marketing and advertising plan and is a great way to kick-off a grand opening of a business. It offers an opportunity to meet key leaders in the community and get acquainted with your neighbors, Chamber members and potential customers. The Cornerstone Chamber of Commerce would assist you in planning a successful event for your company. Having participated in hundreds of ribbon cutting ceremonies, we know how to get optimum exposure for your company. Scheduling a Ribbon Cutting with the Chamber should take place a minimum of two weeks prior to the event to allow the Chamber time to plan the appropriate documentation, invite members of the Chamber’s Board of Directors, the Ambassadors and dignitaries from our municipalities to join your celebration. Food and beverages are often served, but it is your decision. Your plan can be as simple or elaborate as you like, whatever fits your budget. Chamber Staff Members and Ambassadors will help to make things go as smoothly as possible by:
- Writing a press release — this may also be written by your communications group if you like.
- Creating an event agenda — we’ll need input from you as to who your speakers will be for your organization. The Chamber Executive V.P. usually serves as Master of Ceremonies to keep the program on schedule.
- Creating talking points for speakers
- Inviting the Chamber’s Board of Directors, Ambassadors, and Chief Elected Officials from all municipalities and encourage them to attend your event.
- Putting you in touch with other Chamber businesses that can provide catering, deli and beverage services, publicity and even invitations
- Bringing the oversized ribbon cutting scissors and take pictures at the appointed time
- Including a photo and acknowledgement of your ribbon cutting in Chamber publications and archives
There is no charge for the Chamber’s involvement — it’s a value-added benefit of being a member. People generally anticipate spending about a half hour at the ceremony, so be prepared with collateral materials.

- Morning events — coffee, juice, pastries, cake, etc.

How can I promote my business to people?
- Choose a ribbon in corporate colors (can be purchased or homemade) OR what about a ribbon of cash to donate to your favorite charity
- Take pictures for your company and post them prominently where your staff and customers will have a chance to see them when the event is over. Don’t forget to keep copies for your company archives.
- Tours of your facility
- Gifts or souvenirs — a small gift for your guests can help to make your opening more successful — company give-away novelty, calendar, or other item with the firm’s name imprinted on it
- Drawings or door prizes
- Certificates or coupons
- Collateral materials: cards, brochures, literature
- Be organized — have details planned out in advance
- Move around — greet as many people as possible
Where do I want to “stage” the official photo?
- Choose a location
- Should we take pictures? Yes, to display at your business, for your historical archives and future advertisements
- Photos - include candid ceremony pictures, posed people shots and shots of the crowd. Choose individuals in advance who will be in the posed pictures.
